Which Arducam cameras work with Raspberry Pi 5?
All Arducam CSI cameras with 15-pin or 22-pin connectors work with Raspberry Pi 5, including IMX519 autofocus (16MP), 64MP Hawkeye, and wide-angle cameras. USB cameras are also compatible. Most cameras require the latest Raspberry Pi OS and libcamera drivers.
What is the difference between rolling shutter and global shutter?
Rolling shutter captures images line-by-line (cheaper, higher resolution). Global shutter captures the entire frame at once (better for fast motion, no distortion). Use global shutter for robotics, sports, and industrial inspection. Use rolling shutter for static scenes and general photography.
Can I use multiple Arducam cameras simultaneously?
Yes! Raspberry Pi supports up to 4 CSI cameras with a multiplexer board. Jetson Nano supports 2-6 cameras depending on the model. USB cameras can be used in multiples limited only by USB bandwidth. We provide multiplexer boards and synchronized multi-camera kits.
Do Arducam cameras work with OpenCV and Python?
Yes. All Arducam cameras work with OpenCV (cv2), Picamera2, and libcamera in Python. We provide code examples and tutorials. USB cameras work with standard UVC drivers. CSI cameras use Raspberry Pi's camera interface.
What is the maximum cable length for Arducam CSI cameras?
Standard CSI cables work up to 30cm. Arducam offers extension cables up to 1m for standard CSI and up to 10m for long-distance CSI cameras using differential signaling. Long cables require special camera modules with signal repeaters.
