Description
Small IR filterless module for Raspberry Pi with 8 megapixel Sony IMX219PQ image sensor and 1/4" fixed optics. It is capable of taking photos with a resolution of 3280x2464 pixels, can make HD video recordings in 1080p format at 30 fps (720p at 60 fps), giving Raspberry Pi board users the possibility to create video applications, and is sensitive to short wavelength infrared radiation (approximately 880 nm) produced by infrared LEDs. It is not sensitive to long wave infrared radiation (heat), therefore it requires an LED illuminator for night vision. The small module, which measures only 23.86x25x9 mm and weighs 3 grams, is connected via the 15-pin flat cable to the CSI-2 connector of Raspberry Pi. Once connected, the module can be accessed via MMAL (Multi-Media Abstraction Layer) or V4L (video for Linux) API. Alternatively, there are numerous libraries, including Pi camera Python, available online. N.B. does not have a microphone for audio. Technical features The IR filterless module ensures reduced image contamination, such as fixed noise and smearing. It also offers automatic control functions such as exposure control, white balance and luminance detection. Connecting Pi NoIR to Pi: A 15 cm ribbon cable connected to the module plugs directly into the CSI (camera serial interface) port of your Pi device. Once connected, the camera board can be accessed via MMAL (Multi-Media Abstraction Layer) or V4L (video for Linux) API. Alternatively, there are numerous libraries, including Pi camera Python, available online. Product applications: Ideal for making HD videos and photographs in the dark. When used with infrared LEDs, it allows you to see in the dark; in this way, it is possible to monitor the health of plants or even nocturnal animals. Note: Infrared LEDs are required for illumination when using the Pi NoIR camera module in the dark.
